Riley’s Coney House, the popular Port Orange eatery, will soon be opening a Daytona Beach outpost, according to recent public records. The restaurant will be located at 2132 S Atlantic Avenue, near Metz Lounges.
“We were very successful in Port Orange for 2 years and I’m in the midst of painting the establishment as we speak,” owner Dave Lloyd tells What Now Orlando.
“The majority of our clientele, being retired, really value community and family-based restaurants. We have a really good product line, customer-based, and competitive pricing,” Mr. Lloyd says, articulating his optimism regarding choosing Daytona Beach as the host town for the newest location.
“There’s no bar, it’s strictly a restaurant, so no one’s coming in and slamming down 12 beers. But we do have TVs, turned down low, and classic rock playing in the background. It’s a really good classic American concept. Our vibe is great.”
Mr. Lloyd adds that the establishment will have “ a couple of picnic tables facing the highway,” giving outdoor seating for up to 24 guests.
Explaining the menu, Mr. Lloyd explains how hot dogs are king at Riley’s Coney House, with The Everything being the most popular — a hot dog topped with chili, mustard and onion. Besides the hot dogs, Mr. Lloyd emphasizes a selection of seafood specials, sandwiches, wraps, and salads.
In closing, when asked if local foodies can expect further expansions of Riley’s Coney House, Mr. Lloyd is complacent with this being the final store (at least under his direction).
“No, sir. I’m an old goat, so in five years I’ll be leaving this and riding out into the sunset.”
