Residents of the Falls at Parkland, a 55+ gated community in Parkland, will soon be getting a new cafe. The Deck Cafe, so called because it is opening on the community’s pool deck, is working toward an opening at 7200 Knight St.
The private cafe is a new sort of venture for food and beverage team that brought South Florida the bar chain Legends Tavern and Grille, which has six locations currently in operation.
What Now spoke with co-owner Jess Louis on Tuesday about the project. Louis said the cafe will serve breakfast and lunch to members of the gated community. The Deck Cafe’s brand has no affiliation with Legends Tavern, but it’s good to know who’s making your coffee (and that they bring plenty of hospitality experience to bear on the job).
Is this something the group will be looking to do more of in the future? asked What Now.
“It’s our first venture into it, so it depends on where the opportunities arise,” Louis said. “Of course, you don’t just go out and look for that. The community has to be in need of an operator.”
Legends Tavern & Grille has outposts in Palm Beach Gardens, in Plantation, and in Pompano Beach, among other South Florida environs. It offers weekly specials like Whiskey Wednesday ($5 select whiskeys after 5 p.m.), Monday Burger Night (half-price burgers after 5 p.m.), and half-price Wing Night on Tuesdays.
