Washington-based Trapper’s Sushi is adding a second storefront to their Arizona list as they look to move into 2 E Jefferson Street later on this year.

“We’re excited to keep growing and expanding out there,” said owner Trapper O’Keeffe when he spoke to What Now Phoenix on Wednesday. “We’re hoping this store will be ready by the end of October or the beginning of November.”

O’Keeffe started preparing sushi over 20 years ago when he started training under his brother-in-law at Eisuke Sato at the age of 17, according to the website. He took what he learned and moved it up to Washington state, where he found his style of sushi to be very popular and moved to open his own restaurant.

The goal of the company is to make the sushi restaurant a place diners come to visit again and again, stating they “hope after each visit you will be thinking about what new roll you are going to try tomorrow.”

The sushi menu offers selections for kids as well as having daily specials and a gluten free selection for those with a sensitivity.

The first Trapper’s to come to Arizona opened in January 2021 after the business had operated out of Washington for 16 years.

The upcoming storefront will be the company’s 13th on the market. They are currently hiring over 50 positions for the new spot.

Update: This post includes updated information about the hiring availability at the upcoming location.
