A lease signed for a 2,100 square-foot space at 9069 W. Olive Ave. indicates that Wingstop will be the new tenant. The chicken wing restaurant will be taking up Suite B123 in the shopping center anchored by Fry’s Food and Drug off Arizona State Route 101.

Based on the timing of the lease, it’s possible that this new Wingstop won’t be ready to open doors until early 2022, but in some cases they could possibly open sooner. Wingstop was founded in 1994 by Antonio Swad in Garland, Texas.

Perhaps unbeknownst to Swad at the time was the idea that Wingstop would become the heavyweight franchise that it is today. Wingstop began franchising in 1997 and supposedly had sold one billion wings by 2002. In 2010, the chain went global with its first international location in Mexico. Now, there are Wingstops across 12 countries throughout the world.

The chain is known for serving up 11 flavors of bone-in chicken wings, boneless wings, and chicken strips alongside sides and sauces. Due to the current state of the global supply chain, Wingstop has begun selling chicken thighs as well.
