Surf City Sandwich might possibly open a third shop at Mesa’s Cannon Beach, as suggested in Community Impact Newspaper. The sandwich shop originated in 2014 in Santa Cruz, California, where its first location is going strong today.

After moving to Gilbert in 2018, owners Paul and Elaine Figliomeni found an opportunity on Power Road to open a second location. With his background in cooking and passion for surfing, Paul created a concept specializing in craft sandwiches served in a laid-back surf-themed shop.

This is a fitting business for Mesa’s upcoming Cannon Beach, a 37-acre mixed-use development that will be anchored by the Revel Surf water park. Other plans for Cannon Beach include a four-story hotel, experiential dining, retail shops, and community spaces such as splash pads and outdoor games.

If the rumors are true, we might expect Surf City Sandwich’s third location to debut in 2022 when Cannon Beach begins to open to the public. Construction on Revel Surf is underway and its neighboring restaurants and stores are sure to follow suit.

Until then, we’ll be keeping up to date on Surf City Sandwich’s social media for any announcements, and an even closer eye on Cannon Beach to find out what else is to come. The Figliomenis have been contacted but have not yet been available to discuss these rumors at the time of publication.
