Tropical Smoothie Cafe may be opening two new locations this year in the Valley. In Scottsdale, a sign for the smoothie franchise is planned for 4032 N. Scottsdale Road. Meanwhile, a building permit found in Phoenix public records proposes remodeling a 1,350 square-foot space at 4243 W. Thunderbird Road.
Based on the timing of these sources, we suspect that both locations could be open by this summer. Representatives for Tropical Smoothie Cafe have not returned requests for comment at the time of publication.
Currently, there are at least 15 Tropical Smoothie Cafe locations in the Valley. The chain originated in the early ‘90s along the Florida panhandle and began franchising by 1997. Fast forward to the present, Tropical Smoothie Cafe now boasts at least 1,000 locations nationwide and has generated $500 million in revenue as of August 2021.
