Chef Cory Oppold, a former champion on Food Network’s “Chopped”, is set to debut his very own restaurant later this year called Course. Located in the former Baked Bear at 7266 E. Shea Boulevard, Course is going to elevate the casual dining scene in this neck of North Scottsdale

Course originated as an in-home dining operation that Oppold started during the pandemic. It involved prepping meals in a community kitchen then bringing it all to a client’s home, where he’d plate everything and serve a stylish six- to seven-course meal.

The concept for his restaurant will be similar, according to PHOENIX Magazine. Oppold will have a prix fixe menu, in which customers can select from an eight- or nine-course Chef’s Tasting Menu or a five-course menu that will offer two main choices.

The seasonal menu will be changed every couple months to keep customers on their toes in terms of what to expect. Oppold tells PHOENIX Magazine that despite the upscale dining format, he wants Course to be a place that customers will pick for a casual mid-week meal.

That said, the space is being built out to include a full kitchen, while the indoor and outdoor dining areas will be remodeled with a minimal and modern look for a relaxed, approachable experience. If everything goes according to plan, Course is scheduled to open in the fall.
