Firecreek Coffee Co. is due to open another outpost in Phoenix this summer. The Flagstaff roastery plans to open at 1618 E. McDowell Road. This will be the second location for Firecreek in the Phoenix Metro area, where they currently operate a small cafe at The Marilyn office building in Arcadia.
Owner Mike Funk started Firecreek Coffee Co. in 2008 after relocating to Flagstaff. There, he established Firecreek’s flagship location and has become a favorite for locals and Arizonans who happened to be passing through.
They’ve gained such popularity in the Grand Canyon state that they also maintain locations in Cottonwood and Sedona. Operating as a roastery as well, Firecreek supplies specialty beans and grounds to AJ’s Fine Foods and Whole Foods.
This new Phoenix cafe will be one of Firecreek’s biggest, serving as not only a cafe and roasting space, but also as an arts venue and training facility for baristas. Additionally, there will be a bar and a kitchen that will allow the business to expand its offerings.
“We are growing by becoming even more local. Keeping our coffee as close to the source as possible is crucial for us to produce and serve the freshest, best tasting small batch hand-roasted coffee for our patrons and clients,” Funk said in a press release. He expects to open on McDowell Road late this summer.
