Tacos Califia is working on opening a seventh location in Tempe. The business recently received an interim liquor permit from the state to serve customers at 414 S. Mill Ave. and is scheduled to open this summer, according to Downtown Tempe.
Known for their street-style Carne Asada and Al Pastor tacos, Tacos Califia is one of the most popular taco spots in the Valley. In fact, the local chain’s menu was voted the “Best Tacos in the Valley” by Phoenix Magazine in 2018.
Tacos Califia was founded by Adolfo Torres, whose upbringing in Tijuana, Mexico was spent helping his father at the family taqueria. After moving to Arizona, Torres started a food truck business with the help of his father and siblings.
It wasn’t long before the food truck’s authentic Tijuana street-style tacos catapulted the business onto the brick-and-mortar scene. Throughout the business’s growth, their values for fresh ingredients and secret family recipes remain at the heart of their incredible tacos.
