Whataburger is coming soon to Laveen! In late May, the city of Phoenix issued a building permit to begin construction on a brand new 3,746 square-foot Whataburger store with a drive-thru. Look out for it at 5775 W. Baseline Road off Loop 202.

Representatives for Whataburger confirmed that this new corporate-owned location should be ready to open by late Q4 2022. There are currently 23 listed locations throughout the Valley on Whataburger’s website, signaling that the brand is seeing continued growth in the Phoenix market.

The chain originated in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1950, when founder Harmon Dobson wanted to serve a burger so big it would take two hands to hold and so good, customers would say, “What a burger!” Whataburger has grown exponentially in recent years, boasting more than 840 restaurants across ten states from Arizona to Florida.

Whataburger is known for their fresh, never frozen made-to-order burgers with 100-percent pure beef and their toasted five-inch buns. In addition to burgers, they have patty melts, chicken sandwiches, salads, breakfast, and shakes.
