Having recently acquired the three existing Valley locations of health-driven fast-casual concept, ProteinHouse, local restaurateurs Cody Starrett and Eric Greenwald are now setting their sights on a 10 to 12-unit expansion throughout the region, with a particular interest in Chandler, Peoria, Happy Valley, and Tempe, according to a recent article in the Phoenix Business Journal.

More specifically, Greenwald told the Business Journal, “In Maricopa we would like to expand to somewhere between 10 and 12 locations,” adding, “I thin in Arizona we could probably do upwards of 15 to 20.”

Greenwald, who previously served as president of the New York-based pizza chain Grimaldi’s, and Starrett of local steakhouse STK Scottsdale, took the helm of ProteinHouse’s Gilbert location, followed by outposts in Arcadia and Scottsdale.

Largely inspired by his family’s growing enthusiasm for healthy eating as well as his sons’ burgeoning interest in sports, Greenwald told the Business Journal, “I don’t get involved in anything that I’m not passionate about. ProteinHouse fits my lifestyle.”

Meanwhile, the brand’s business model – which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, lighter options such as shakes and smoothies, and a meal prep and catering service – make it a viable competitor not only in the health-driven fast-casual space but in the Phoenix area specifically.

As the Business Journal notes, “The three Valley locations of ProteinHouse are the first-, second- and fourth-most successful in the entire system, which has 18 locations in 10 states and the United Arab Emirates.”

“These three stores are the top-producing stores in the whole ProteinHouse category,” Starrett is quoted as saying. “We love the healthy, fast-casual concept.”
