Empanola recently built out a new kitchen production facility ahead of a planned expansion, and now, it appears the popular empanada company is set to make good on those plans with a new location coming to the French Quarter. According to documents filed with the City of New Orleans, the new location at 630 St. Ann St. will have a café feel, selling empanadas, coffee and pastries. The company will supply pre-cooked foods to the café, so no cooking will be done on-site. The space is set to undergo minimal, non-structural renovations.
Empanola was launched in 2017 at the St. Roch Market. No longer at the market, the company has expanded to include four brick-and-mortar locations — with two in New Orleans and two in Biloxi, Miss. The two Crescent City locations are in the Lower Garden District and Uptown. The location planned for St. Ann Street would be the company’s first brick-and-mortar foray into The Quarter.
