James Beard Award winner, Chef Hugo Ortega along with his wife, Tracy Vaught, are preparing their latest Houston-based restaurant concept that’s reported to be at 1550 Lamar St, according to Chronicle. This latest venture with currently no name announced is expected to to build on Ortega’s reputation for delivering a wonderful experience.

The duo run H Town Restaurant Group with an impressive lineup of restaurant’s operated from under that umbrella, including Backstreet Cafe, Urbe, Hugo’s, Caracol, and Xochi. Each reflects Ortega’s passion for showcasing regional cuisines with his unique flair. Details are currently being kept under wraps for the Lamar St concept, but the group’s reputation suggests it will feature nothing short of excellence.

Ortega and Vaught clearly aim to further cement their legacy with this latest addition. The restaurant’s location in Downtown Houston will bring in locals and visitors of the area, ensuring a wide-reach while creating new fans and catering to their current culinary followers.

This unnamed concept from the group is set to open sometime in Summer 2025.
