Located at 2801 N Tamiami Trail in Sarasota, Fork & Hen offers a streamlined yet eclectic menu focused largely on handhelds and drawing from a variety of cuisines. After proving this adventurous concept in its current home, owners and chefs Alfonso Duron and Mark Traugutt are preparing to expand Fork & Hen to a new, and much bigger, location.
Local-insider Facebook page Restaurants in Sarasota shared a rumor on January 9 that this second location would open in the space formerly occupied by Made Restaurant, at 1990 Main Street. What Now reached out on Thursday to Chef Alfonso Duron, who confirmed the news.
“We have no set date yet,” Duron told What Now. “Construction has been really quick, so we haven’t had time to communicate too much, but soon we’ll start doing some teasers.”
Duron says the new location has triple the capacity of Fork & Hen’s current home—seating 120 to the current space’s 40. Accordingly some updates are likely coming to menu, whose eclectic nature is already on display in handhelds ranging from the Shougun Chicken Sandwich (Shougun Sauce, Garlic Dill Ranch, House Pickles, Daikon, Lettuce) to the Chicken Milanese Sandwich (Pesto, Arugula, Fresh Mozzarella, Focaccia), to the House Sprouted Falafel Wrap. More choices are in the works, Duron says.
“We’re very excited about that process. What we’re aiming to do is a new lunch menu.”
We’ll be keeping our eyes open! Meanwhile, expect an opening in late winter/early spring.
