Laguna Beach is buzzing with excitement as a dynamic new hospitality venture prepares to open its doors at 31715 Pacific Coast Highway. Kevin Joseph, Founder and CEO of Empire Oysters, will open three concepts at the address, one of which will be Urchin Coastal Coffee & Café, according to Best of Laguna Beach.

Open daily from 7 AM to 5 PM, this café will offer healthy breakfast and lunch options, focusing on low-sugar, non-processed foods. Think smoothies, sandwiches, and light bites served in a serene setting, nestled amongst a seafood place and an oyster venture.

The venue will feature both indoor and outdoor spaces, including a garden area referred to as “Octopus’ Garden.” This outdoor space is envisioned as a community gathering place, offering live music, fire pits, and live-fire cooking. Upstairs, the indoor dining area will house a U-shaped bar.

Phase one of the $5.175 million project is underway. The purchase of the property is about to close, the website stated as of December 20, and funds are being raised and architect and contracting teams are being selected. Next will come the build-out and approval process, which is expected to occur in January and February. A soft opening is planned for March.
