A new restaurant, Huntington’s on the Pier, is slated to open at 21 Main Street, according to the LA Times. The project is transforming a former bait and tackle shop into a pier-side dining destination.

The project is spearheaded by former Huntington Beach Mayor Keith Bohr, and architect Jeff Bergsma, both longtime residents. It involves adding a 250-square-foot kitchen, two outdoor dining patios measuring a combined 630 square feet, and an expanded public restroom facility.

City documents show the restaurant’s interior will accommodate approximately 50 guests, featuring open-air windows that allow diners to enjoy ocean breezes. An outdoor, climate-controlled patio will offer additional seating for 25, while a smaller space near the restrooms will accommodate an additional 10 patrons.

Bohr told What Now OC that Huntington’s on the Pier will provide a “California coastal casual” dining experience with a menu featuring tacos, burgers, seafood, salads, appetizers, and desserts. The drink menu will include a selection of craft cocktails, California wines, and draught beers such as IPAs, Mexican pilsners, and rotating seasonal options.

He confirmed that the project’s building plans are currently under review with the City of Huntington Beach. Construction is expected to begin in March 2025, with an estimated completion time of late 2025. Huntington’s on the Pier has already secured an ABC 41 beer and wine license, with plans to apply for a full liquor license in the near future.
