Two longtime hospitality professionals are preparing to open a new concept called The Jetty in Ocean Beach at 4934 Voltaire Street.
The new concept will move into the former home of Voltaire Beach House, which closed earlier this year following multiple employer-employee disputes. Now, two business partners with plenty of local experience are getting ready to transform the space. Kyle Jaworski has about 14 years of experience working with NZ Eats Group, while Sebastian Widman partially owns the Ocelot Brewing Company in Virginia and most recently served as a bar manager at The Joint and The Bowl in Ocean Beach.
Together, they are opening The Jetty. Jaworski tells What Now San Diego that he hopes to open this new concept in Spring 2025 but couldn’t provide an exact opening date. Since the two owners recently signed a lease this week, little information is available. While this won’t be another gastropub in Ocean Beach, it will have more of a beach pub-meets-lounge aesthetic with an “eclectic menu” that features craft beer, cocktails, and not-often-seen dishes in the area, according to San Diego Magazine.
Despite it being very early in the process, Jaworski and Widman feel hopeful they can at least bring new life into this space after a tumultuous year in the space that included allegations of theft, assault, and other accusations from both managers and employees, according to Fox 5 San Diego. Voltaire Beach House first opened in January 2017 and closed in September. When The Jetty opens next spring, Ocean Beach will have a one-of-a-kind concept with indoor and outdoor seating.
