A brand new Baja-Mediterranean fusion restaurant called Mia’s is preparing to debut in Solana Beach at 243 North Highway 101, Suite 7.

This is the latest concept from Jim Ulcickas and Rick Staunton, the founders of Bluewater Grill, according to a recent liquor license application first reported by SanDiegoVille. Mia’s will replace ALCE 101 in the Boardwalk Solana Beach Shopping Center. The new restaurant will open in 3,663 square feet of space in early 2025. Customers will notice that the new Mia will feature elements of the former ALCE 101’s Napa Valley-inspired design, including its expansive outdoor patio.

“Mia’s will offer a modern interpretation of the contemporary flavors of Baja California fused with Mediterranean cuisine, Baja-Mediterranean,” according to the ownership team, reported by SanDiegoVille. “Our menu emphasizes sustainability, using only the freshest local and organic ingredients. Designed to be a social hub, our restaurant will provide a vibrant, energetic, and friendly atmosphere. Our goal is to consistently deliver a unique and memorable experience for our guests.”

The culinary team at Mia’s is committed to sustainability and has great respect for the ingredients it uses. The restaurant’s menu features a diverse range of dishes, including raw seafood specialties like crudo and ceviche and succulent cooked meats. Each plate is crafted using organic, locally sourced ingredients, highlighting rich flavors and vibrant colors. Designed for sharing, the restaurant’s menu encourages a communal dining experience that is both delicious and memorable. If food isn’t enough, Mia’s will feature an impressive alcohol program with plenty of cocktails, wine, and beer.

“Our cocktail menu is deeply inspired by the rich heritage of Mexican spirits, featuring a focused selection of tequila and mezcal-based drinks. We pride ourselves on offering a vibrant and extensive array of cocktails, each crafted with precision and flair. Our carefully curated wine program features global producers committed to quality and sustainability. Balancing familiar labels with innovative picks, we aim to offer unique tasting experiences. We regularly rotate our selections to offer diverse flavors and styles, ensuring there’s always something new to taste. Additionally, our bottled beers will provide even more variety, catering to every beer enthusiast’s palate.”
