OB Kabob, a family-owned and operated Middle Eastern restaurant that closed its doors early last year, is getting ready to reopen in the same location in Ocean Beach at 4994 Newport Avenue, Ste A.
The restaurant is set to move into the former home of D’lish Restaurant, which is owned by the same family, Sahir and Lorien Sinawi. Sahir confirmed with What Now San Diego that Ocean Beach Kabob would take over his other restaurant later this year but couldn’t provide an exact opening date. The restaurant, located next to Winston’s, will serve the pizzas previously offered by D’Lish. However, the pasta dishes will not be part of the menu provided.
This is significant for the Ocean Beach community and the Sinawi family, who opened the Ocean Beach Kabob in February 2013. When they announced the restaurant’s closure after 11 years, the owners expressed gratitude to everyone who supported them. They explained that keeping Ocean Beach Kabob open was not feasible, mainly because Lorien was expecting their fourth child. The couple had also purchased a well-established turnkey restaurant in Chula Vista, which later became the first location of D’lish at 386 East H Street. After careful consideration, the team decided to close this chapter and start a new one. They are excited to return to the beloved concept, offering a menu of delicious Middle Eastern dishes, including beef or chicken shawarma and gyros.
All dishes are homemade, using the finest quality meats, vegetables, and spices. The restaurant prides itself on using the freshest ingredients in every dish. They exclusively use top-quality beef, lamb, and chicken. Ocean Beach Kabob’s shawarma is mouthwatering and a must-try! The owners select the best cuts of beef and lamb, making their kabobs tender and juicy. The chicken is made only from white meat.
