A new culinary gem coming to Corona Del Mar will showcase the delicacies of Nikkei cuisine, a unique fusion of Japanese cooking techniques and the bold flavors of Peruvian ingredients. Konpa will be opening at 3333 East Coast Highway, liquor licensing data shows.
The emerging business applied for a beer and wine license, which is still pending approval. The licensee is Jaypop LLC and Chef Jason Yamaguchi is listed as an owner; he is an esteemed chef who has worked alongside his uncle, the celebrated Chef Roy Yamaguchi, and under Michelin-starred Chef Michael Mina and Chris Garnier.
With a menu inspired by Yamaguchi’s Japanese heritage and his travels to Peru, Konpa offers an exciting and vibrant dining experience. Some of the standout items on the menu, shown on the business’s Toast page, include inventive rice wraps, flavorful poke bowls, and unique sides like miso soup with Peruvian potatoes and island macaroni salad.
Konpa’s Instagram page states that it is currently available for catering and private events while the concept’s location is in the works. There is no timeline available for an opening date, and the business did not return a request for comment before publication.
