After closing its location at 915 Broadway for design changes, the owners of Selland’s Market-Cafe are preparing to revamp and rebrand all locations as Sellands Cafe & Bar.
Selland Family Restaurants, the group behind local establishments such as Ella Dining Room & Bar, OBO Italian Table & Bar, and the Michelin-starred restaurant The Kitchen, has begun the rebranding process for all Selland’s Market-Cafe locations, according to the Sacramento Business Journal. The rebranding initiative started late last year when the company shut down the Broadway location to renovate the space and install a full-service bar with a new craft cocktail menu. Although the location reopened in December under the same name, this marked just the beginning of the transformation.
The owners of the 915 Broadway location are closing their flagship site in East Sacramento at 5340 H Street on January 3 for renovations, expected to finish by mid-April. After that, they will focus on upgrading the El Dorado Hills Town Center location at 4370 Town Center Boulevard, though no timeline has been set. The brand will also refresh from Selland’s Market-Cafe to Sellands Cafe & Bar, a change long overdue since the concept hasn’t functioned as a market in over a decade. In addition to regular seasonal menu updates, new menu categories will be introduced this spring.
“All of the locations will have new decor and branding,” Tamera Baker, co-CEO and chief brand officer for Selland Family Restaurants, tells the Business Journal. “As the oldest location, East Sac has been completely gutted and will be getting a full bar, new furniture, booths and banquettes, ceilings, lighting, etc. All of the Sellands locations will function similarly to before except for the addition of the bars, which will be full service similar to that of OBO.”
