According to an article from Willamette Week, Frank’s Noodle House aims to debut a new location in the Pearl District at 122 NW 10th Avenue.
The opening date for the new Pearl District location will be dependent on the new kitchen’s build-out and other factors. “Right now, we are still remodeling the place,” the owner, Dennis Fang, stated in the article. “We’re still going to have the handmade noodles for sure, and also the dumplings.”
“Founded in 2008, Frank’s Noodle House serves the traditional Chinese fare and thick, doughy noodles WW has lauded for more than a decade, long before Guy Fieri visited the flagship Lloyd Center location (Frank’s’ second location in Beaverton opened in 2016). Fang says the Pearl District location’s menu, like its layout, is a work in progress, but a soft opening for dedicated customers is in the works.”
Frank’s Noodle House’s website tells us more: “According to LaMian History, a Hui Muslim Chef from the city of Lanzhou in China first invented LaMian (hand-pulled noodles) in the early 1800s, during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). His descendants continued in the tradition of making the noodles, and the fame and popularity of the dish quickly grew among the local population.”
“LaMian is a type of Chinese noodle made by stretching and folding the dough into strands. The noodles should be made fresh and dropped into boiling water immediately. Often customers can watch the whole process from their table.”
