After undergoing a $100 million makeover, Miami Beach’s Shelborne South Beach hotel is reopening on May 1, says recent coverage by the South Florida Business Journal.

Behind the transformation is Proper Hospitality, whose work on remaking the hotel while preserving many of its original features shows up in the hotel’s new name: Shelborne by Proper.

“The property will introduce new dining and drink venues, including a signature restaurant, cocktail lounge, café, poolside bar and oceanfront beach club,” the Business Journal coverage says.

Proper also has Proper Hotel properties in Austin, Downtown Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Santa Monica.

“We created Proper as a home base for today’s creative nomads and modern globetrotters,” says the Proper website. “Our one-of-a-kind-hotels in creative hubs across the country offer a looser kind of luxury, with the top-notch service and world-class amenities you’ve come to expect, minus the pretension. Anything less wouldn’t be Proper.”

What Now reached out on Thursday to Proper Hospitality president and co-founder Brian De Lowe to ask about details on the reimagined hotel’s food and drink roster. De Lowe was not immediately available for comment.
