The Kebab Shop, a Mediterranean fast-casual concept that opened in San Diego in 2008, is preparing to open two more locations in North County.

The family-owned restaurant has dozens of locations across California, Texas, and Florida, including ten in San Diego, but the company is getting ready to expand into North County, according to a recent Instagram announcement. The Kebab Shop will open new locations in San Marcos at 336 Twin Oaks Valley Road and Escondido at 1200 Auto Park Way, replacing Chipotle in the Escondido Promenade shopping center.

It’s unclear exactly when these locations are expected to open, but the Instagram announcement lists these sites as opening in “March…ish.” Additional locations are coming to Fremont, CA, and Magnolia, TX. In San Diego, The Kebab Shop already had a handful of locations throughout the city, including three North County sites in Rancho Bernardo, Encinitas, and Carmel Mountain. These two additional sites will give customers even more access. Other locations can be found in La Jolla, East Village Point Loma, Otay Ranch, and more.

When these two new locations open, customers can expect a “new school” Mediterranean restaurant serving rotisserie and grilled kebabs with falafel, fries, salads, and sauces—all customized to your liking. While there’s a handful of delicious Mediterranean options, the restaurant is known for its wraps, which are made with o.g., yogurt sauce, greens, tomato cucumber, and pickled onions. “San Diego style” makes it with fries and feta cheese inside. The Kebab Shop has seen great success with its expansion plans since the company adopted Square in 2015 to lessen the burden of its administrative operations across locations, enabling it to scale from seven to 15 locations by the beginning of 2020.
