Fish 101, a local seafood restaurant with sites in Encinitas and Cardiff, is getting ready to expand its presence in North County with a new site coming to Carlsbad at 507 Grand Avenue.
The company’s third location appears to be open in a freestanding corner space at the popular intersection of State Street and Grand Avenue, according to SanDiegoVille. The new spot will have a 1,856-square-foot indoor dining area along with a 2,200-square-foot outdoor patio. It’s unclear when this location is expected to open, and co-owners John Park and Ray Lowe have yet to confirm this information with What Now. Regardless, reports say this location of Fish 101 will open by the end of the year.
Park and Lowe launched Fish 101 in 2011 in Leucadia, emphasizing locally sourced seafood prepared and with quality. After opening a second location in Cardiff in early 2019, they are now expanding to Carlsbad Village. This new location will feature the same high-quality service and seasonal menu, including dishes like white clam chowder, grilled shrimp, seafood tacos, organic soft-serve ice cream, and a selection of craft beers and wines. The restaurant aims to maintain its casual, ocean-inspired atmosphere in a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly area, highlighting its commitment to sustainable seafood.
In addition to its delicious menu offerings, Fish 101 features a stylish collection of merchandise. This includes a new Heather Army Green Hoodie with a Red Classic Logo, a Classic Logo Snapback, and a new Ocean Savage Fishermen Beanie. The work of local photographer Robert M. Wald is displayed in its restaurants and even on some of its t-shirts. Finally, Fish 101 offers a special sauce available for purchase: an 8oz tub of “Pink Sauce” (Chipotle Crema) and a 5oz bottle of “Diabla” hot sauce.
