At the beginning of 2024, What Now Memphis reported that an upscale Southern restaurant was in the process of expanding, though details were limited at the time. Now, more information has emerged.

Carlee McCullough and Veve Yates, the owners of Mahogany Memphis, will soon open a second site at 280 Island Dr, taking over River Terrace’s long-vacant restaurant space in Mud Island.

According to The Daily Memphian, the Mahogany River Terrace site is currently being remodeled and renovated. This project is part of a larger plan for the city’s riverfront, which includes various upgrades and enhancements to be included in the city’s budget proposal for fiscal year 2026.

Located at the Chickasaw Oaks Village Mall on Poplar Ave, the original Mahogany restaurant is known for its upscale Southern fare with “a dash of Creole.” Chefs Pierre Ware and Anthony Crumpton serve up soulful dishes like Cajun Fried Chicken and Seafood Pasta, as well as an array of vegan options.
