A Philippines-based chicken chain is expanding with another local location.

Kukuruku Chicken is coming to 3358 Poplar Ave in East Memphis, taking over the former Lucchesi’s Beer Garden space. Franchise Roque “Rocky” Estipona confirmed this news with What Now Memphis, expressing excitement about the expansion.

The franchise first entered the U.S. market with its Lakeland location and has another in the works in Bartlett. Along with the upcoming Poplar Ave site, Estipona is planning additional locations on Goodman Rd and Highway 51, as well as in Midtown and Southaven.

The Kukuruku menu features a variety of crispy chicken items, including tenders and sandwiches, as well as homestyle spaghetti, sides, and a diverse selection of boba milk teas. Estipona says that more menu items could be introduced once the Poplar Ave location opens.

The new Kukuruku Chicken location is expected to debut this fall, just in time for Thanksgiving.
