Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is expanding in the greater Chicago area, the restaurant franchise announced today.

Two franchise groups of the Wichita-based fast casual chain are adding twenty locations across the region: eight in northern Chicago under franchisee AC Mehr & Associates and another 12 in southern Chicago and northern Indiana under franchisee M&M Custard. Timelines for the new outposts have not yet been announced.

Freddy’s also announced deals with franchisees elsewhere in the country, though its Chicago-area expansion is the largest. It will add one restaurant in Sweetwater, Tex.; four in Louisiana; and five in North Dakota. In total, the restaurant has more than 400 restaurants across the country, 16 of which are in Illinois.

Freddy’s menu is comprised of quintessential American fare like burgers, hot dogs, French fries, milkshakes and, of course, frozen custard.
