Currently, you can find the spirits of local craft-distillery Wolf Point Distilling at Chicago-area beverage marts, bars & restaurants, and online, none of which gets you quite close enough to the source. It looks like that is about to change.
According to a liquor license application filed with the City of Chicago, Wolf Point plans to add consumption on premises and the sale of packaged goods to their 215 Laflin St. location. The company’s website shares “Tasting Room Coming Soon,” and a post from the beginning of August acknowledged the distillery had begun construction on the space.
We were unable to reach Owner Pavlos Dafnis for comment at the time of publication, so the opening timeline for the tasting room currently remains unclear. That said, you’ll certainly be able to enjoy the company’s Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Florence Field Gin, and O’leary’s Cow Cinnamon Infused Vodka that much closer to its origins.
Wolf Point takes its name from the location where the North, South, and Main branches of the Chicago River Meet. According to Wolf Point’s website, the land was some of the first developed in Chicago and was home to the first tavern, theater, hotel, ferry, and bridges across the river.
You’ll want to follow Wolf Point Distilling on social media to find out just when those tasting room doors will open.
