Plano foodies, get ready to say “aloha” to your next big dining obsession. Ono Hawaiian BBQ is eying the city for a new location.
The chain, which strives to capture island flavors in every dish, has filed paperwork to convert the space at 8724 Preston Road into an Ono Hawaiian storefront. The building previously housed a Chick-fil-A and will require certain renovations to accommodate its new resident.
According to paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, construction will begin on the 3,952 square foot space on April 14 of this year. Owing to the space’s existing history as a restaurant, extensive work is not required, and the project is set to wrap by August 1.
Ono Hawaiian is still a relative newcomer to the fast-casual dining scene; founded in 2002, the chain has spread to include more than 100 locations. The restaurant has made a name for itself by serving traditional Hawaiian dishes in a quick-service fashion. The menu features island favorites including Chicken Katsu and Kalua Pork.
