In a significant development for the fast-casual dining scene, Thrive Restaurant Group has announced the acquisition of Modern Market Eatery, a beloved Denver-based brand known for its focus on fresh, healthy food options. A recent article by Franchise Times explained what’s next for the brand.

Modern Market’s previous owner, Butterfly Equity, has shifted its focus toward its Qdoba chain, which it acquired in 2022. This move marks a pivotal shift for Thrive, which has been a franchisee of Modern Market for two years.

Thrive Restaurant Group was the first franchise group to sign with the brand, and will now transition to owning the company’s entire portfolio of 24 restaurants and five licensed units in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and Texas.

With a growing portfolio that includes over 190 restaurants under six brands, such as Applebee’s and Qdoba, Thrive is well-positioned to enhance Modern Market’s presence in the fast-casual sector.
