The national burger chain Whataburger will expand with a new restaurant in Tennessee, taking over the former IHOP location at 1602 Haynes Street in Clarksville.

The new location will be corporately owned and operated, according to Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer James Turcotte, though many Whataburger locations across the country are franchised.

The Clarksville Whataburger plans to be open by July of this year. However, an exact grand opening date has not yet been confirmed.

Known for its orange-and-white-striped restaurants and being open 24 hours a day, Whataburger sticks to a simple menu including burgers and fries, chicken sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, cinnamon rolls, and a few salad options.

The brand originally was founded in 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas by founder Harmon Dobson. Currently, there are over 900 locations across 14 states, with 8 of them in Tennessee, according to the Whataburger website.

“Each and every Whataburger is still made to order when it’s ordered. We still use 100% pure, never-frozen beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. We still greet our customers with a smile 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” the website states.
