Blu Jam Café has announced they are opening a seventh location in Atwater Village, located at 3224 Glendale Blvd.

The casual café that utilizes local and organic ingredients will replace Wolfie’s Hot Chicken on March 22, 2022, according to the company’s website. Owners Kamil Majer and David Fris first opened Blue Jam Café in 2006 to create gourmet breakfast and lunch dishes at an affordable price. The duo, both from Czechoslovakia, set out to build a creative and elevated menu that merges flavors worldwide, with Majer serving as the executive chef. He now creates stunning dishes using simple, good-quality ingredients.

Blu Jam Café takes two things very seriously: fresh ingredients and coffee. None of the six currently open locations have freezers, making everything made to order. Most of their ingredients are organic and sourced locally from farmer’s markets, ranches, and purveyors who shop locally. A few businesses the cafe support and buy from include Wild Isles, Butternut Mountain, Bar-M, Chasin Foods, Caffe LA, and Kaena Wines.

“I make a lot of things from scratch— granola, dressings, jams, ketchup, mayonnaise, aiolis— just to name a few,” Kamil says. “This way I can eliminate the use of high fructose corn syrup and other unwanted ingredients in your food. If I can’t pronounce it, I will NOT eat it and neither should you.”

While Kamil believes that food does not have to be complicated to be excellent, the coffee, on the other hand, is very carefully chosen. Their French press format is handpicked from Guatemala’s best high elevation coffee-producing region “San Lucas Toliman.” On the other hand, their house espresso blend is the Italian favorite Danesi.
