Dumpling and noodle restaurant dan modern chinese is opening two new locations this year, one in Canoga Park and another in Long Beach.

Both locations are expected to open sometime in 2022, joining five currently operating sites. The new Canoga Park location will sit on the first floor of the Westfield Topanga Shopping Center, across from Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que. The Long Beach location will be housed inside the 2nd + PCH complex, located at 6460 East Pacific Coast Hwy, Suite 100. Owner James Kim first opened dan modern Chinese from Pasadena in 2018. A few years later, he has expanded to Playa Vista, Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica, and Sawtelle.

All locations serve a variety of traditional Chinese classics with a modern twist. The house favorites are handmade from scratch dumplings and noodles, specifically the xiao long bao dumplings and dan mein noodles. Kim currently serves select beer and wine at all current locations, with fresh-made boba drinks coming soon. The owner of the fast-growing restaurant has his eyes set on adding even more areas across Los Angeles “so that we can share our passion for food and service with as many people as we can.”

“What makes us stand out from our competitors is not only the refined, quality and modern twist, it is the freshness of the food and the care put into the preparation of every item,” according to the restaurant’s website. “We only use the best quality ingredients and then commit to the details of elevating our food. There is a finesse to each dish on the menu which comes from the techniques used to prepare our food, and also the use of fewer ingredients, letting the food speak for itself.”
