Chef Cameron Slaugh’s French-Italian bakery Nonna Mercato is soon opening its restaurant in Long Beach, located at 3722 Atlantic Ave.

The New York French Culinary Institute graduate currently operates from this location through private experiences, a custom bakery called Docle (formerly Sweet & Saucy Shop), and provides an at-home delivery service and wholesale. Now, the French-Italian bakery is getting ready for two significant milestones. First, the bakery will open a warm, rustic, and approachable brunch addition in Spring 2022. Then, sometime in Summer 2022, the restaurant will fully open for dinner service.

Not many details have been released regarding the brunch or dinner, but guests can expect handmade pasta, bread, and pastries made with organic produce from local farms and heirloom grains. What is known is Nonna will offer a delicious brunch menu, with fresh bread and baked goods available at the counter daily. Until these sections open, guests will have to settle with the limited service currently provided, which is only available by pickup or an appointment.

Before becoming a part of the Noela Hospitality Group, Slaugh started his career at New York’s Park Avenue Seasonal Restaurant, assisting the group’s openings throughout Manhattan. He eventually went on to work at Eleven Madison Park’s world-renowned kitchen, helping the culinary team gain a Michelin star. Upon arriving in Los Angeles, he began engaging with heirloom seed companies to grow and offer produce not seen elsewhere in the city. Before launching Nonna Mercato, he was elevating the food of Osteria La Buca to new heights and transcending the “Farm To Table” moniker.
