Brooklyn-based ice cream shop Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is making its way to Studio City and Fairfax, the latter located at 424 N. Fairfax Ave.
The company’s sixth California location will move into the former home of FourTwoFour. Founder/ CEO Ben Van Leeuwen tells What Now Los Angeles he expects to open the Fairfax location sometime in Winter 2022. The health-forward ice cream shop specializing in vegan ice cream also has a new location coming to The Shops at Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City, located at 12833 Ventura Blvd. The company is also expanding to Colorado and Connecticut.
On top of the five Los Angeles locations, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream also can be found in food trucks across the city. Whether you find the ice cream at one of their food trucks, at one of their scoop shops, at a location grocery store, or through nationwide delivery, customers can find various classic and exciting flavors. Some flavors include raspberry layer cake, pumpkin cheesecake, vegan churros & fudge, and a vegan bourbon vanilla apple crisp. The ice cream shop even has a Kraft macaroni & cheese flavor.
“Nowadays, people can spend so much time on what’s “healthy” they don’t stop to consider what’s healthy,” the owners say on their website. “As far as we’re concerned, happiness is healthiness. What could be happier than that magic combination of milk, cream, eggs, and cane sugar (or coconuts, cashews, and oats for our vegan friends)? Yes, our ice cream has fat. And that’s okay. It’s good-good, not good-bad. If it’s tough to pronounce, it’s probably tough to digest. We seek to satisfy omnivores and vegans alike. This is our way. The good way. The Van Leeuwen way.”
420 Fairfax is Beverly Grove/Miracle Mile. Though they are opening Studio City as well 🙂
