Northern California’s popular boba tea shop Ume Tea is expanding into Southern California, with a new location in Palms at 11138 Palms Blvd.

The company’s seventh location will move into the former home of Royal Donuts later this year, likely in late Summer 2022. Ume Tea will bring its signature bright pastel-colored store to the corner of Sepulveda, first reported by Toddrickallen. The company, owned by Zuoda Wang, currently has locations in Fremont, Palo Alto, Davis, Newark, Cupertino, and Milpitas. This spot will be perfect for Ume Tea, as the area has few boba tea shops nearby besides Tra Space, Boba Guys, and Boba Time.

When this new location opens, customers can expect a variety of tea options, with favorites including mango pomelo sago, the house milk tea with boba, popcorn chicken, and brown sugar boba & mochi milk tea. On top of the dozens of tea products found at this store, Ume Tea is constantly updating its menu with new items, such as the surprise me and the white peach green tea with a cheese top. Other drinkable items include milk teas, fresh tea, smoothies, and more.

Unlike other boba tea shops, this one features an extensive food menu. Their bento boxes contain braised pork, teriyaki chicken, and more. For smaller snacks, Ume Tea also offers smaller dishes such as hash browns, pumpkin pie, chicken wings, and breaded butterfly shrimp. It’s unknown at this point if the company plans to add any new items for the first Southern California location.
