Din Tai Fung, a Taiwanese restaurant chain, is relocating within Glendale, moving from Americana at Brand to Glendale Galleria at 100 W Broadway.

Although the company is moving down the street, the new Glendale Galleria location will be much larger than Americana at Brand, with a patio and a bigger kitchen. This is great news for Glendale Galleria, which used to be the premier hub for retail and restaurants in the area before the Rick Caruso-owned Americana at Brand opened in 2008. The move won’t happen anytime soon, as Din Tai Fung tells Eater LA they won’t move to the Galleria until the fourth quarter of 2023.

Until then, Din Tai Fung will continue to operate from The Americana At Brand at 177 Caruso Ave. The Taiwanese restaurant chain can also be found in 13 countries, including Japan, South Korea, Singapore, China, Europe, Indonesia, Australia, and more. The company proudly offers a taste of Taiwan in over 170 locations worldwide, including the five-time one Michelin Star site in Hong Kong.

All of these locations, as well as the new one coming to Glendale Galeria, will feature authentic Taiwanese dishes. Customers can get started with appetizers such as wood ear mushrooms or sweet & sour pork baby back ribs. Other dishes include dumplings, wontons, greens, and specialties, such as shrimp & kurobuta pork pot stickers or black pepper beef tenderloin. Din Tai Fung also noodle soups, items from the wok, and desserts.

While all of this sounds delicious, the restaurant specializes in Xiao long bao, broth-filled dumplings from the Jiangnan region of China that are steamed in a bamboo basket. Founder Mr. Bing-Yi Yang opened his own cooking oil shop before his wife used half the store to sell delicious food items. Eventually, the Xiao long bao became so popular it turned Mr. Yang’s business into the full-fledged restaurant that it is today.
