Signage for an Indian restaurant named Banana Leaf recently went up at the former home of Cabo Cantina, 11829 Wilshire Boulevard. However, the chain’s proprietor Sridhar Sambangi tells What Now Los Angeles that the space will actually become India’s Tandoori Bar & Grill, a partner brand of Banana Leaf. Sambangi says the outpost, which is one of a handful throughout LA, should debut in August.
Sambangi — the founder of the online ordering system Clorder — also heads up operations like Beach Cities Social Kitchen, Tikka Masala & Grill, and Zayna Flaming Grill.
India’s Tandoor serves 100-percent Halal meat, specialized regional dishes from all areas of the Indian subcontinent, and a unique array of well-implemented spices to create healthy and authentic plates. The menu consists of appetizers like samosas and pakora; soups and salads; a wide selection of clay-oven cooked entrees like chicken tikka and reshmi kebab; stews; condiments; and desserts.
Of course, the restaurant will also serve tandoori, a South Asian dish of meat marinated in yogurt and spices and roasted in a tandoor, or a cylindrical clay oven.
