Last December, What Now Los Angeles reported that the popular Ahgassi Gopchang was relocating from its outpost on Sixth Street to a new spot on Eighth Street. Based on reporting from Eater LA, it turns out that the Eight Street location is now slated to become a Baekjeong Korean, and Ahgassi Gopchang will remain in its Sixth Street location. Both restaurants are owned by Kijung Hospitality.

Some more background – the Baekjeong Korean location in Chapman Plaza, which was owned by Kijung’s competitor On6thAvenue hospitality group, closed earlier this year to make way for a new concept called Origin Korean. With that closure, it appears Kijung now owns all of the Baekjeong restaurants in SoCal.

On6thAvenue also owns the popular Quarters Korean BBQ in Chapman Plaza. Now, On6thAvenue’s brands will be competing against Kijung’s Baekjeong and Ahgassi Gopchang K-Town outposts.

Baekjeong on Eight Street is slated to open by this May, and Ahgassi Gopchang on Sixth Street will be getting minor design updates this summer.
