The owners of Gnarwhal Coffee are gearing up to open a sister concept in Venice. A representative for the company tells WNLA that it will be called Companion. In addition to coffee, it will serve “more traditional Italian pastries,” and will also offer night service with beer, wine and Italian food. Though, “details are still being worked out.”

Gnarwhal is the brainchild of husband-and-wife team Nick Monica and Dakota Kahn. What started as an online business in 2019 grew into a full brick-and-mortar in Santa Monica in 2021.

The brand prides itself on using USDA-Certified Organic roasted coffee, and through the Gnarwhal Community Foundation, the cafe donates 1% of all online sales and matches 100% of tips in-store to donate to a different cause each month.

Monica did not provide further details about Companion at this time when WNLA spoke with him, but stay tuned for an opening date.
