After serving at The Original Farmers Markets, Gone Bananas Bread is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar store at 13016 San Vicente Boulevard in Brentwood.
The new concept is set to open near the Brentwood Country Mart. Owner Estee Stanley tells What Now Los Angeles that while initially hoped to open Gone Bananas Bread sometime this month, the official opening date is up in the air. An official opening date will be announced soon. When this new concept opens, customers can expect plenty of banana products, including banana bread, banana bread pudding, ice cream, and pastries.
Gone Bananas Bread began during the pandemic when Stanley found herself staring at the walls, wondering what she could do to pass the time. As a result, she started baking her banana bread, including flavors such as “Blueana,” “Cannabanana,” and “OG Choc Chip.” Eventually, these delicious pastries gained the attention of Los Angeles, which led to Estee partnering with wardrobe stylist Leah Smith and restaurateur Lawerence Longo. Hopefully, by Spring 2025, customers can walk into the first Gone Bananas Bread storefront and get their hands on some delicious banana-based foods. The company will continue to operate at The Original Farmers Markets.
“What happens when you throw a lockdown-inducing stay-at-home order in response to a global pandemic into the mix, though? What do you do then? You start a banana bread baking company,” according to the company’s website. “As an interior designer, Estee Stanley knows what it’s like to be stuck in a home staring at its walls. As a wardrobe stylist, Leah Smith is all too familiar with a room full of empty wardrobe racks. We think it’s totally bananas that Lawerence Longo, owner of “Irv’s Burgers,” “Prince Street Pizza LA,” and “Off The Menu” would decide to be part of this madness. None of them know very much about baking, which is what makes this nuts! This is what happens when you’ve Gone Bananas!”
