Wawa Inc., the gas station with a convenience store serving built-to-order food, hopes to open two locations in North Jacksonville and St. Johns County.

The New Jersey-based company is currently being reviewed by JEA for a 6,000-square-foot location at Duval and Pecan Park Roads and a 5,537-square-foot site on an outparcel at Beachwalk in St. Johns County, according to Jacksonville Daily Records. Wawa made its Northeast Florida debut in December 2017 with a goal of opening 40 locations in the area. While 15 have already opened, several more sites are under construction or in review in Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns Counties.

John Poplawski, VP of real estate, tells JRD Northeast Florida the company can handle at least 30 locations, Jacksonville could be a 40-store or more market, depending on customer support. If these new locations are approved, the areas will soon see construction on a multi-lane gas station with a convenience store that has everything a driver would need. On top of the various drinks and snacks, the store also offers plenty of made-to-order food, such as sandwiches, wraps, burritos, bowls, and more.

“We use only the freshest ingredients to offer you quality and satisfaction you can count on every time you enjoy our foods,” according to the company’s website. “Whether it’s time for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or somewhere in between, you’re sure to find something to suit your appetite. Our stores offer a large selection of fresh foods, available Built-to-Order just the way you like or Ready-to-Go when you’re in a hurry.”
