Jacksonville-area husband-and-wife team Nathan Stuart and Margo Klar have recently opened Julington Creek Fish House & Oyster Co. at 112 Bartram Oaks Walk, Suite 102, in Saint Johns.
The restaurant opened on April 6 in the former home of Blackstone Grille, which closed last year after 15 years, according to the Florida Times-Union. Julington Creek Fish House focuses on fresh seafood and fish, as well as high-end sushi and prime steak. The duo already has five restaurants open throughout Northern Florida and is already planning two new concepts to open this year. Stuart tells What Now Jacksonville they plan to open Boat House of Ponte Vedra Beach and Boat House of St. Augustine in about six to eight months.
While this won’t be the first Fish House & Oyster Grill location, joining sites in Orange Park, New Berlin, St. Augustine, and Tallahassee, this will be the company’s first Boat House restaurants. It’s unclear exactly what this concept will focus on, but customers can expect high-end seafood options. Stuart and Klar also own Seafood Kitchen in Atlantic Beach. The restaurateurs will continue to bring its family-friendly fish house concepts to welcoming neighborhoods.
“St. Johns County, Julington Creek, Bartram Park, Fruit Cove, and Mandarin. That whole area is super family-oriented … and it just seemed like a great fit for our family atmosphere,” Stuart told the Florida Times-Union.
While the couple is showing no signs of slowing down, they recently closed Beach Road Fish House & Chicken Dinners, formerly known as Jacksonville’s landmark Beach Road Chicken Dinners. The two sold the property at 4132 Atlantic Boulevard to developers who plan to build a new apartment community at the site, according to FTU. They owned the property since 2019.
