A new Chipotle Mexican Grill is currently under construction in Orange Park, located at 876 Blanding Blvd.
This will be the company’s second location on the street, following the Chipotle found on 8635 Blanding Blvd. Last month the company applied for a newly built site through the city planning department and was approved this week. Construction on the site is well underway, so customers can expect this location to open later this year. There are no additional details regarding what kind of site this location will be, but it will likely feature either a Chipotlane or the company’s newly announced all-electric appliances and on-site solar.
While the Chipotlane concept has been around for a while, with over 500 locations in existence, Chipotle recently announced a new design for its stores’ appliances and energy usage. Chipotle said it plans to have more than 100 of its new locations in 2024 using all-electric appliances powered by renewable energy, according to a press release. The company recently opened restaurants with these new features in Gloucester, Virginia, and Jacksonville, Florida, with a third coming to Castle Rock, Colorado.Â
“With our aggressive development goal in North America, we hold ourselves accountable to reduce the environmental impact of our restaurants,” Laurie Schalow, chief corporate affairs officer at Chipotle, said in a press release. “We are aiming to incorporate some elements of our responsible restaurant design into many of our new restaurant openings going forward.”
