The Pickleball Club, a brand-new indoor pickleball court facility with food options, is hoping to enter the Jacksonville market next year.
The company, led by founders Brian McCarthy and Matt Gordon, is focusing on its first location coming to Lakewood Ranch in Sarasota this month. McCarthy tells What Now Jacksonville he has his eyes on Jacksonville following the company’s debut. He says he is currently looking for 4-5 acre sites this year and hopes to have a location in the area by next year. The Pickleball Club is also planning locations for Port St. Lucie, Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, Venice, Pinellas Park, and Orlando.
When these new locations open, guests can expect something similar to the Sarasota site, which features a fitness complex featuring 12 indoor pickleball courts with a tournament-level outdoor surface, a Dink’s Pro Shop, and an outdoor activity center. The facility also includes a rotating “Food Truck Alley,” Pickles Café, and community court-side dining so players can have food and drink options before or after play. Memberships are required for The Pickleball Club, which hopes to offer a fun and healthy retreat for members and their guests.
“We knew there had to be a better way,” according to the company’s website. “Some of the best pickleball in the country is right here in beautiful Southwest Florida. Unfortunately, so is the intense sun, heat, insects, wind, rain, and humidity, often making play less comfortable, impossible, or dangerous. Sarasota is ideal for an indoor pickleball facility. As in all of Florida, rain, heat, wind, insects, and humidity frequently disrupt the opportunity to play outdoor sports.”
