Brazas Chicken, the Orlando-based restaurant that serves authentic Latin food, is opening a new location in St. Augustine at 2473 US HWY.

The company’s third location will move into the former home of China One in the Lewis Point Plaza. Owner Franco Del Solar couldn’t tell What Now Jacksonville an exact opening date for the new restaurant but says they are at least a month away. He and his business partner Doris Del Solar opened the business in Orlando on Orange Avenue in 2006 before expanding to a second location at Marketplace at Avalon Park mid-2022. It’s taken only a few month for owners to get started on a new location.

When this new restaurant opens later this year, customers can expect authentic Peruvian food, including pollo a la brasa, ceviche, steaks, and fresh seafood. The restaurant’s most popular item is chicken, specifically chicken chaufa and chicken fried rice. Brazas Chicken also offers a handful of Peruvian appetizers and desserts, such as banana cheesecake and caramel-filled churros. The restaurant also offers a happy hour from 3 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday through Friday.

This will be a perfect location for the new Brazas Chicken. The restaurant will be surrounded by plenty of retailers and only a few other competing eateries, such as D’Aleo Italian Deli, McDonald’s, Ned’s Southside Kitchen, and Bono’s Pit Bar-B-Q. This will be one of the few restaurants offering South American cuisine in the area. At the moment, anyone who wants to give Peruvian food a chance will have to visit Anastasia Island.
