A brand new sweet treat shop called Twisted Turtle Creamery is getting ready to open its doors in St. Augustine, located at 425 W Town Place, Suite 116.

The new dessert shop is expected to move into a vacant space in the Town Center West Shopping Mall. Owner Virginia Schulze tells What Now Jacksonville she hopes to open Twisted Turtle Creamery by the end of the month, but she must first complete inspections. Once open, customers can expect various ice cream and other sweet treats in a welcoming interior decorated with turquoise equipment. The eatery also has a beautiful mural in the restaurant that makes customers feel like they’re at the beach.

Twisted Turtle Creamery will sit between Pirate Pizza and The Beauty Mark in the shopping center. The new business should have no problem getting customers in its doors, considering how many other restaurants are in the area, including Cafe Cairano and King Wok. What’s even better is the fact that the company will not face any immediate competition in the area, only having to face off with a handful of similar eateries in the Shoppes at Murabella, including Cold Stone Creamery, Whit’s Frozen Custard, and Jeremiah’s Italian Ice.

This will be the first and only location for the company not to be confused with Pennsylvania’s Turtle Twist, which also sells ice cream. Schulze tells What Now Jacksonville this is the only location they plan on opening and do not expect to expand. Despite this, Twisted Turtle Creamery will be a refreshing change from all the big-name sweet shops often found throughout northeast Florida, offering a welcoming mom-and-pop feel rather than a corporate chain.
