Dallas-based FB Society has decided to replace one of its concepts, Ida Claire, with its sister restaurant, Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar, in St. Johns, located at 10209 River Coast Dr.

The company recently announced that Ida Claire will remain open for business and operate normal business hours into March at the St. Johns Town Center. Then Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar will replace the concept in late summer 2024, according to Jacksonville Daily Record. This will be the first time the restaurant lands in Northeast Florida, with one other state location in Tampa. The new Whiskey Cake will sit between Wells Fargo Bank and Bahama Breeze.

The decision to change concepts proves the restaurant group is leaning towards its more lively restaurant in Whiskey Cake, known for its modern takes on classic comfort food, innovative craft cocktails, and a “killer spirits library.” On the other hand, Ida Claire is described as an intriguing, southern-inspired destination for relaxing suppers, slow weekend brunching, and a meeting hub for business lunches and happy hour. The new Whiskey Cake will be more appealing to the crowd of Town Center, which is filled with other businesses and restaurants. FB Society is also responsible for other concepts, such as The Ranch, Mexican Sugar, Sixty Vines, Haywire, and Son of a Butcher.

“We source flavors, ingredients, and ideas straight from the farm because good food tastes even better when it’s grown locally,” according to Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar’s website. “From our mesquite wood-grilled plates to fresh greens and famous desserts, all of our hand-crafted dishes are served up with simple, honest flavors in a rustic, local atmosphere. Our chefs transform simple, seasonal ingredients into classic American dishes with local flavor.”
