The North Guana Outpost, located at 4415 Mickler Road in Ponte Vedra Beach, is ready to expand and grow with a restaurant and more.

The family-owned and operated outfitter store recently applied for a permit to demolish its 1,800-square-foot facility and replace it with about 7,700 square feet of retail space, a restaurant, and a pavilion, according to the Jacksonville Daily Record. There is no timeline for this project. This news comes after St. Johns County re-opened public access to Mickler’s Landing Beachfront Parking and beach access as progress continues on the $38.6 million Ponte Vedra Beach Restoration Project.

“Our contractor, Weeks Marine, was able to get the majority of the parking lot cleared up of restoration equipment and supplies and ready for the public earlier than expected,” Sloane Stephens, Coastal Environment Project Manager, said in a news release. “The County’s Parks/Beach Services has done a walk-through, and we are thrilled that Mickler’s is back open.”

As the project continues towards its estimated completion in early August, the parking lot may be closed intermittently for public safety during the repair or delivery of large contractor equipment and again for de-mobilization after construction is complete. The County announced on February 21 that it would restore storm-damaged dunes and berms to provide storm protection to upland infrastructure with more than two million cubic yards of sand dredged in from the ocean. The project will create additional environmental habitat for wildlife and enhance the recreational value of the beach.
